Protect your vehicle with Properly installed undercoating

Undercarriage Protection is Critical

One automotive fact that doesn’t get mentioned enough: a vehicle’s longevity depends on its core structural integrity. Preventative maintenance is more than just changing brake pads and engine oil. Rust treatment is a highly overlooked preventative maintenance item that can make your vehicle a dime or a bust. Here in Washington state we see a lot of weather conditions, and protecting your vehicle from all the elements is an essential piece of ownership. But what is the best method to protect and prevent rust?

Our Value

We want our customers to feel protected and confident when cruising the city streets, highways and even offroad. We can’t avoid mother nature, but we can sure be prepared when the elements come our way. With dry ice blasting being our specialty, we have an edge in cleaning and remediating surfaces that are showing signs of rust. Dry ice cleaning is the most environmentally friendly method to clean because we add no liquid or solid media to the equation. The dry ice turns back into carbon dioxide gas and the contaminants fall to the ground, leaving a clean surface ready for rust treatment. With our equipment we can clean those tough-to-reach crevices where a wire wheel simply won’t do.

The Process

Our process includes four vital steps the ensure the best protection for your vehicle.

Step 1: Cleaning

What sets CryoMode apart from the rest is our utilization of dry ice blasting (learn more about dry ice here). Dry ice is impactful when it comes to rust remediation because dry ice cleans the surface better than any other method for dirt/grime/rust removal. Dry ice blasting works great for cleaning surfaces and removing surface rust. For spots that are worse than basic surface rust, dry ice will clean to ensure no contaminants are left on the corroded surface. In some cases we do use a wire wheel to make sure the tough embedded rust is brought down to bare metal.

Step 2: Preparation

The second step in our rust remediation process involves prepping for the product application. We do our best to make sure every spot that isn’t being treated is masked off in case of overspray. Typically this masking includes suspension springs, drive shaft, gas tanks, wires, connectors, etc.

Step 3: Prevention

Once the rusted surface is clean and parts are taped off, it is time to apply the rust inhibitor. For this step we use a product called ML from Dinitrol. The key benefits of ML are its excellent ability to penetrate, stop on-going corrosion, and disperse water. Dinitrol ML creates an oily, flexible film and wet-on-wet with bitumen UBC. This acts as a suffocator to inhibit the rust from spreading any further, essentially sealing the corrosion from exposure to oxygen. Once in place, it's time for the long-term protective coating. We use a three foot long hose that can wiggle its way inside the frame to protect inside the frame itself. This ensures the inside of the frame is treated just as well as the outside.

Step 4: Coating

Lastly we apply Dinitrol 4941 protective undercoating. 4941 is a rubberized underbody protection that is designed to last for 10+ years. The product is self-healing, easily applied, and provides great abrasion resistance and component protection. We aim for the final output to be as smooth as we can get it with a nice semi-gloss finish. The product is easy to touch up, but also easy to remove with dry ice blasting.
